Paradise On East Lafayette: A Tribute
This, ladies and gents, is not your typical #JoieWorksDesignFinds post. Although it does spotlight an incredible display of interior and exterior design, it was truly written as a tribute to a very special place, 6515 East Lafayette Street. Thus, I would like to formally dedicate this post to my good friends and former inhabitants of this magical place. I hope this post brings you joy and serves as a small memory of the many happy times that I know were made here.
Although I did not have the pleasure of spending much time at this Southwestern daydream, I was lucky enough to spend a wonderful weekend here among the glorious gardens and colorful cacti. Below are some photos from my trip, which are serious interior and exterior design goals. Major props to Ami, who designed this bright and vibrant Southwestern-style haven herself.
The acre-large property in the heart of Scottsdale, just snatched up by some lucky new homeowners, is complete with a main house (and a kitchen that would send any food-lover swooning), dreamy gardens surrounding the property, an outdoor entertaining space straight out of your wildest dreams, and the most adorable guest house aka 'casita' that you ever did see.
I mean, talk about dreamy, right? If the scent of fresh flowers from the garden doesn't send you straight into relaxation mode, a glass of wine by the pool ought to do the trick. It sure did for me!
The 'casita' is an adorable Southwestern-style bungalow that is home to a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Upon entering, I was immediately taken by a wide array of colorful textiles, eclectic decor and lively pieces of furniture that Ami has collected in her travels throughout the years. Colors and comfort collide effortlessly in this guest suite to create a space that guests may never want to leave.
A signature characteristic of Southwestern style is inarguably color, color and more color! This design trend is not something one can pull off just anywhere, but Ami has executed it perfectly throughout her home. The kitchen in the main house (seen below) is a perfect example of this energetic and bold use of color. It's every desert-loving chef's dream come true!
Thank you to Ami and John for allowing me to spotlight their lovely former home. I have experienced first-hand how difficult it can be to say goodbye to a home that has become so beloved and cherished throughout the years, but I have learned that it can also be the beginning of a wonderful and exciting new chapter. Cheers to this special place, and to making many new memories in a new home, which is sure to be yet another paradise on earth.
